The Hostel is centrally located just a few minutes walk to the Te Anau town centre cafes, supermarkets, cinema, the Te Anau Glowworm Caves centre and the Department of Conservation [DOC] walk centre. Tracknet buses call here for all their services between Te Anau Queenstown and Milford Sound.
Te Anau village is the gateway town to the Fiordland World Heritage National Park and most people come here to either visit one of the fiords or to walk a Great Walks track. Our staff offer useful advice so if you want to kayak, cruise, heli-hike, 4 wheel motor-bike, day walk or mountain bike they can advise you of the best options to suit your budget and to make a reservation for you.
If you are here to walk a track we will help to get you on the trail. You can leave your excess baggage here for a small charge. If you are walking the Routeburn Track why not catch Tracknet to Milford Sound from the Divide, do a cruise then come back and stay with us. Tracknet will also carry your excess baggage to/from our hostel for a small fee.
The hostel has a fully equipped community kitchen & self catering private rooms. Most of our dorms are ensuite and all rooms are heated. There is purpose built TV lounge with a DVD player and loads of videos for you to choose from. Our Backpackers lodge has three lounge areas, one with a log fire, CD player, piano, guitar, games etc. We have coin operated washing machines and dryers. There are card and coin phones available
Email is an essential resource these days and we have 7 terminals for you to keep in touch. We also have a laptop hotspot & skype for your convenience.
There are some lovely views of the lake and mountains from our balconies or you can rest in front of the hostel beside the lake to admire the view. Behind the hostel is a BBQ and garden area in which to relax.
