The below have been seperated into the areas where they occur - Te Anau, Milford Sound Or Doubtful Sound. Te Anau is the closest settlement before you enter the wilderness of Fiordland National Park, so come on over.

We have chosen activities to display on our website that offer you the best in terms of value for money, experience and a great adventure!

Te Anau

Te Anau is a beautiful village nestled on the shores of Lake Te Anau, surrounded by the Kepler and Murchison Mountains and on the cusp of civilisation and the Te Wahi Pounamu Fiordland National Park.

Te Anau is an excellent place from which to base your explorations into Fiordland. Te Anau has a range of services including supermarkets, clothing stores, cinema, restaurants, bars and cafes. Most equipment may be hired or purchased or attained here!

Restaurants

Resturants that we think offer you great value for money and good ethnic and kiwi fare include La Toscana for the best pizza and pasta in the world, The Moose, Ming Garden, and La Dolce Vita. Ask for directions.

There is a fantastic new Indian Restaurant and subway as well.

Bars

Highly recommend enjoying a glass or two of your favourite tonic at either The Moose, Redcliffe or The Ranch. The Moose and Ranch both have a courtesy bus. A New bar has recently opened and this is the Black Dog situated beside the Movie theatre.

Bottle Stores

There are two bottle stores in town and the Moose has take aways.

Milford Sound Overnight Cruises

Milford Wanderer:

Activities onboard includes Kayaking. Total of 61 Passengers. Quad Share bunk style rooms.

Kayaking

The most spectacular way to see Milford Sound is at water level in a sea kayak - Lonely Planet.

Highly recommend prebooking for any kayaking in Fiordland - This can often be booked weeks ahead. Book with us and don't miss out!

Roscos

Offer four options for Kayakers:

Sunriser - Early morning paddle, suitable for all levels of experience

Twilighter - Afternoon Paddle. Motor boat out into the Fiord and paddle back - challenging paddle for those more water confident visitors

Milford Walk - Sea Kayak or power boat to Sandfly Point, rainforest walk up the Arthur Valley section of the Milford Track.

KOMBO - Sunriser and Milford Walk Combination

Doubtful Sound

Doubtful Sound is the second of Fiordland's easily accessible Fiords. Doubtful Sound is five times larger than Milford Sound. Often described as the "Sounds of Silence". This is the most remote experience out of Doubtful Sound and Milford Sounds. Doubtful Sound is a beautiful serene wilderness, a pod of Dolphins is always in the Fiord so your chances of seeing them are dramatically better in Doubtful Sound than in Milford Sound - some cruises offer the opportunity to fish and kayak whilst others are purely sightseeing orientated.

Due to controls on commercialisation - Not as many visitors are able to experience Doubtful Sound each year - please ensure you book in advance of your intended travel date so you don't miss out!
